► (1465-1524) Conquistador español. Acompañó a Cristóbal Colón en su segundo viaje (1493) y, en 1511, fue encargado por Diego Colón de someter la isla de Cuba; en la misma fundó varias poblaciones (La Habana, Santiago y Matanzas, entre otras).
